Greg Bell/Lookouts Memorial Scholarship
Purpose or scope of procedure:
            Application requirements, processing and selection of scholarship recipients
Responsibility:
            Greg Bell Memorial Scholarship Fund Executive Committee

There are at least two(2) $500 college scholarships awarded per academic year.  These scholarships are available to any qualified applicant who meets the following criteria (limit one entry per student).
  a.   You (the student) have participated with an Adrian Diamond Club - Lookouts Fast Pitch team for at least
      two full seasons.
 
  b.   You are or will be attending an accredited college within the current calendar year.  
  c.   You are a full or will be a full time student (12 credit hours or more).  
  d.   You can provide proof of registration and payment.  

Applicants must submit a typewritten essay of 300-500 words on the subject:
"What has the Lookout's experience meant to me?"

 
  1.   Advertising and promotion of the scholarship will begin each January for the current academic year.
     a)  Posted on the Adrian Diamond Club website:    www.lookouts.org
    
b)  Coaches will contact and inform prospective participants currently on their roster
     c)  Article/Notice will be placed in local newspapers
 
  2.  Applications will be posted on the Adrian Diamond Club website or attainable from current Board Members, Coaches,
     or Greg Bell/Lookouts Memorial Scholarship Fund Executive Committee.
 
  3.  The application deadline (accompanied by essay and letters of recommendation is June 1, 2010.  
  4.  The Executive Committee will review each application as it is submitted to insure that the criteria have been met.
     Any ineligible applications will be eliminated from the selection process.
 
  5.  The Executive Committee will review all essay submissions from all eligible entries.  
  6.  Individuals will be selected from those applicants by the committee.  Recipients will be notified of the results by
      June 15, 2010.
 
  7.  Final distribution of scholarship funds will be completed only after the Adrian Diamond Club has received proof of the
     recipient's college registration and class schedule.  Funds will be remitted in the form of a check made payable to the
     recipient and the college of attendance.
 
  8.  Applicants may reapply yearly.
